Exploring AI
in Project Management.
NextGenPRM is a personal learning and research project by Ümit Gökoglu, exploring how AI could support project teams in planning, decision-making and everyday collaboration.
Through articles, illustrative use cases and the experimental NEXA prototype, I share ideas, test assumptions and invite discussion with fellow practitioners.

What if AI became a member of your project team?
NEXA is an experimental AI project team member concept and personal prototype. I am exploring how it could connect project context, surface useful questions and support human decisions. Its capabilities and benefits require testing and validation.
Could AI connect the context?
Explore how milestones, risks, actions, meetings and decisions could be related to help a team understand its project.
Research questionCould it surface earlier signals?
Investigate whether relevant evidence and past lessons could help teams recognise dependencies and emerging risks earlier.
Hypothesis to testCould it improve the discussion?
Experiment with suggestions, scenarios and possible actions while people assess trade-offs and retain decision authority.
Human reviewThe articles describe ideas and illustrative scenarios. They are not evidence of validated product performance. No consulting services or commercial software are currently offered.
How could a digital colleague contribute?
A conceptual model for organising experiments around project context, uncertainty and practical learning.
“Better questions.
Informed human decisions.”
I am interested in where AI can help, where it falls short and what a project team needs to verify before acting on a suggestion.
Questions worth investigating.
These themes guide my writing and prototype experiments. Each starts with a project-management question and an assumption to test.
Planning and decisions
How could AI help a team examine dependencies, compare scenarios and understand the consequences of a decision?
Ideas & use casesMemory and foresight
Could lessons learned become useful during delivery, helping teams recognise risks and evaluate opportunities?
Questions & hypothesesCommunication and teamwork
What would make an AI colleague useful in meetings, reporting and follow-up, with clear limits and human review?
Prototype experimentsAn AI Project Team Member Experiment.
A personal series of articles exploring what an AI project colleague could contribute through illustrative scenarios and questions for practitioners.

Project Management in the Fog.
Could AI help us recognise risks earlier, challenge weak mitigation measures and uncover opportunities? Explore how NEXA could connect project evidence with lessons learned and support timely action.

Why wait until the project ends?
Explore how a living project diary could capture technical and organisational learning, connect it with past experience and bring it back when the team needs it.

Prepare the report. Rehearse the questions.
One project, different audiences. Explore how NEXA could help tailor the message, surface missing evidence and rehearse the steering committee before the real decision.

From constraints to decision options.
After the kick-off, the real planning begins. Explore how NEXA could help the team compare scenarios, make trade-offs visible and ask: under what conditions is it possible—and is it worth it?

What Would Change If an AI Project Team Member Joined the Kick-off Meeting?
A kick-off should create one shared starting point. Explore how NEXA could expose hidden assumptions, connect WHY, HOW and WHAT, and turn uncertainty into a living Kick-off Alignment Canvas.

Can AI Help Us Choose the Right Project Working Mode?
Agile, Waterfall or Hybrid? Explore how a conceptual AI project team member could combine project context, organizational knowledge and lessons learned to recommend a fit-for-purpose working model — while humans keep the final judgement.

Project management practitioner and creator of NextGenPRM
My professional interests include project and program leadership, PMO, project excellence and industrial product development. Here, I explore how AI might contribute to the everyday work of project teams.
This site reflects my personal perspective.
A personal question, explored in public.
I created NextGenPRM to explore a question that interests me as a project management practitioner: how could AI contribute as a useful member of a project team?
Building NEXA is my personal exploration of that question through writing, conceptual use cases and prototype development. The ideas and capabilities presented here are evolving and require testing and validation.
This project is developed independently, in my own time and with my own resources. It does not use my employer’s confidential information, project data or internal materials. The views expressed are my own and do not represent or imply endorsement by my employer.
NextGenPRM does not currently offer consulting services or commercial software. The site is intended for sharing ideas, learning and professional discussion.

Which ideas resonate with your experience? Where do you see limitations or questions worth exploring? I welcome feedback on the articles and the NEXA concept.
